Just the beginning...

Hi my beloved readers, how's your day going? Mine is going great! As I told you before, I decided to take a gap year to do volunteering in India, so I'm going to tell you guys my experience from this trip.
An hour ago I landed in New Delhi and I am so amazed by the city itself. Now I'm in my hotel room that I share with two other girls that are my age and we have a time to rest and to take a bath because it's so hot outside, there are like 32 degrees! But on our way here I got to see the city and I can assure you that it's so different from what I'm used to see in Montevideo, my hometown, or even in Uruguay, the country. Everything looks so big like just the airport is like four times bigger than the one from Uruguay, there are so many important and luxurious buildings and you can't imagine how many people are on the streets...
And I'm not travelling alone. Luckily I got the chance to spend ten months with such a cheerful and beautiful group with people from all over the world, I can wait to see what this journey is gonna be like!
I'll post a picture of our hotel view for you to see, we are almost on the last floor and it is amazing, hope you enjoy it.

Getting started...

I'm so sorry that I didn't write anything for a month! I'm truly sorry but it wasn't my fault. Because there are so many people trying to get internet connection here, it was impossible for me to get connected and I tried every single day, I swear.
Well but the point is that we're leaving to our next destination Jaipur, which is near New Delhi, so we're taking a bus to get there. I'm not sure if I will get wi-fi on the bus so I'm going to tell you now what this month has been like to me.
Firstly the weather is way to hot from what I'm used to, there were so many days that I felt so sick and dizzy but that wasn't such a big problem. Also the people are so nice to everyone, once we were buying food from little markets on the street, they offered us to try their food and everyone said to "hi" to us, as we walked by. But I have to admit that the smells on the streets aren't the best, there are always food smells and they get mixed with other things like incenses, they are too strong but only for tourists I think, because I'm sure that the people who live there are used to those smells. And something that really surprised me is that the indians have a special smells, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but it's just different.
Also we went to some schools to help children to learn how to read and write and they were so grateful to us, it was an emotional moment. And we went to a rural area where we helped girls to be more confident and to encourage them to apply for jobs. Can't wait for Jaipur.

I'm already in Jaipur and we're staying in a hostel for three months. I can tell from now that it will not be easy to get internet connection during this trip so I decided to write what it's happening and then post it when I get wi-fi. I hope you're okey with this, because otherwise I have no idea how could I do this.
In this city there are many activities to do as a volunteer. One of them is to help street kids to get an education so we went to needy communities many days, providing thousands of kids free education, educational materials, uniforms and play materials. We taught them general knowledge and manners while talking, sitting, moving, eating, reading, speaking...
Everyone had such a positive mind, and they were so enthusiastic, that made this task much easier. We played with them and they learnt how to play some sports.
On the weekends we had free time to do whatever we wanted to, so we went to the most important monuments, buildings, that were just breathtaking. Oh I was forgetting an important and fun thing we did, we rode elephants! Those magnificents and beautiful animals are so big and they walk so slow that I was a little bit scared but it was worth it.
And we also went to some schools to explore and promote the children's hidden talents, and to increase their knowledge.

Bangalore here we come

It's june 27th and we arrived to Bangalore. I'm so tired and jet-lagged and the heat is affecting me but I know that all of this is worth it. Now we're in the south of India and luckily today it isn't so hot.
We will go to schools, we'll be empowering women like we did before but also we will go to orphanages, a new experience to me.
So when we go to schools and towns, every time is different. Sometimes people are more talkative or enthusiastic in some places than in others, but that doesn't mean that it's better or worst, just different.
In Bangalore we got the opportunity to see some amazing places and like in all the other cities that we've been to there is so much traffic! I've never seen so many people on the streets.
Also we meet incredible people with such a beautiful souls, like in the orpahanges. In some of them there were kids that were so happy and nice even if they knew what had happened to them in the past. I will try to post a picture of a group of kids who I spent some time with, for you to see and some kids we met at a school in a small town of Bangalore.
